Drought Continues
Even with a rainy winter and increased conservation during Stage 3 water restrictions, our water supply is dangerously low. With water from recent rains, your lawns and landscaping should have received plenty of moisture. Lawns are dormant during winter months and do not need water. It's best to turn off your sprinkler system and water any necessary plants or foundation areas by hand or with drip irrigation.

Live Healthy Texas Program
If you have made the resolution to get fit this year, McKinney has a new program to help you get started. The Live Healthy Texas 100 Day Challenge provides a platform for residents to form teams and track physical activity, weight loss, or both from Jan. 23 through May 1. The online program also provides meal plans, video workouts, healthy recipes and nutrition and wellness resources. The $20 fee for each participant includes a year-long subscription to a national lifestyle magazine and a t-shirt. Registration is open at www.livehealthytexas.org and will remain open through Feb. 6.
Help McKinney win funds and support - just by clicking!
McKinney has a chance to win national recognition and vital funds in cash prizes by mobilizing our residents to vote in the "We Hear You America" campaign from Reader’s Digest. Town residents, school alumni, relatives in other cities, friends — anyone can vote and vote as many times as they want. The towns with the most votes win, so the more people we can get involved, the better McKinney’s chances of winning.
Voting is easy — just go to www.ReadersDigest.com/America. By uploading photos and stories of our town, we also have a chance to be featured in Reader’s Digest stories about the best towns in America. Last year more than half of the towns in America participated, and 110 towns won funding for projects. This year is our chance! Please help us raise our vote total and our chances to win.
You can start by checking out McKinney’s page on the website.
